Job Summary

The Communication Systems Engineer III researches, designs, develops, tests, and oversees the installation of electrical communication systems at Kennedy Space Center including cabling, mission imagery systems, transmission systems, and voice systems. Duties also include System Administration actions related to all network systems under contract responsibility.

This is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design communications systems that support a wide variety of existing and future services as requested by customer.
  • Collaborate directly with AEGIS product team members, as required, to provide a comprehensive solution to customer requests, including (but not limited to) standard work orders, real-time repair requests, and operational support requests; develop solutions to varying complexities of requirements independently or in collaboration with engineering lead/senior engineer team members.
  • Understand and write test procedures and operational requirements to support customer-requested designs.
  • Process work documentation through prescribed processing software to provide work continuity, visibility and tracking to customer and AEGIS team.

Requirements

Required Minimum Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required, plus five (5) years’ experience or a Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an engineering program accredited by ABET and three (3) years of Engineering Experience.

Required Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, etc.

  • Knowledge of multiple operating systems; network management skills; cloud infrastructure proficiency experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Normally works in an environmentally controlled setting indoors.
  • Occasionally works at customer sites to include outdoors.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, etc.

  • Preferred familiarity with configuration and troubleshooting of the following vendors: Juniper, Ciena, Lantronix, Fujitsu, Cisco.
