What we’re looking for...
AG Barr's Technology team seeks an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support diverse business technologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Cloud Infrastructure, Data Centre operations, Networking, Enterprise Backup solutions and ideally knowledge of Cyber Security and Disaster Recovery principles. This role will ensure robust, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure and Cloud environment operations, driving business alignment through strategic partnerships, advanced system management, and proactive problem-solving.
Your responsibilities will include...
As an Infrastructure Engineer your responsibilities will include;
- Proactively identify and implement improvements in service, resilience, functionality, and value of the IT infrastructure through new technologies, particularly Cloud services and automation while also providing expert Infrastructure support and advice to both the IT team and the wider business.
- Lead the development and maturity of our Cloud Infrastructure, with a focus on Chrome and Google Cloud Platform.
- Act as a Google Workspace Super Admin, handling configuration, security, and optimization of the organization's Google domain.
- Manage upgrades, patches, and end-of-life risks to IT Infrastructure.
- Maintain and improve backup procedures for optimal effectiveness.
- Monitor and enhance hardware and software platform performance.
- Maintain, test, and ensure the IT Disaster Recovery Plan is fit for purpose.
- Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support and advice escalated from the Service Desk.
- Manage the installation of physical devices and cabling in the manufacturing (OT) environment and data centre(s).
- Contribute to new IT standards, policies, procedures, training, and communication plans.
What you’ll bring...
The successful candidate will have;
- A deep understanding of Google Workspace services with advanced skills in configuration, security and overall system optimisation of a Google domain.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically GCP, understanding its purpose and role in a modern infrastructure environment, with a willingness to develop our internal capability and use of this platform.
- Proven experience using and understanding infrastructure as code, with a focus on Terraform, Ansible, Powershell, etc.
- A strong understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing protocols, 802.1x, Wi-Fi, and troubleshooting DNS and DHCP, is highly desirable. Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies is also beneficial.
- Can demonstrate strong knowledge and experience of working in a multi operating system environment with a deep understanding of server, client, virtualisation and container technologies is a must.
- Exposure to backup technologies such as Veeam Backup and Replication.
- Knowledge of remote management technologies, including mobile and desktop.
- Familiarity with CCTV and door access systems would be advantageous.
- Foundational knowledge of cyber security principles and/or OT technologies would be desirable.
- Ability to manage external suppliers to work together on multi-faceted solutions and have the experience to troubleshoot and manage critical incidents that can include multiple vendors.
- An energetic, analytical, and focussed approach on delivering excellence. Using their experience to resolve issues, recommend solutions, implement preventive measures and deliver results.
- Be self motivated and able to work on their own initiative and with minimum supervision.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to flex their influencing style and engage effectively across all levels of the business.
- A commitment to personal development, ensuring they keep current and up to date with technology.
- A familiarity with project management methodologies with real world experience leading small to medium sized projects.
