Job Purpose
The Ansible Automation Platform Engineer will serve as the primary architect, developer, and administrator of the enterprise Ansible automation platform. Unlike general users who simply execute playbooks, this role requires deep platform ownership — including designing, developing, governing, and optimizing Ansible-based automation at scale. The engineer ensures reliability, security, and performance of the automation ecosystem and supports broader DevOps pipelines and infrastructure workflows.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain the Ansible automation platform, including automation controller and supporting infrastructure.
- Build, customize, and optimize Ansible modules, playbooks, roles, and automation workflows.
- Manage platform configurations, RBAC, integrations, inventories, secrets, and execution environments.
- Lead the development of automation standards, templates, and reusable code for enterprise use.
- Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements for stability and scalability.
- Collaborate with DevOps, cloud, networking, and security teams to align automation with organizational objectives.
- Maintain platform documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational guides.
- Implement CI/CD automation pipelines and support integration with version control systems.
- Ensure the platform complies with security, audit, and operational best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship on Ansible development to internal teams.
- Participate in automation planning, tool evaluations, and long-term DevOps strategy initiatives.
- Support off-hours or weekend work when required for major updates or troubleshooting.
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level hands-on experience developing and managing the Ansible platform (not just using playbooks).
- Strong proficiency in Ansible Automation Platform, AWX, or Ansible Tower architecture and administration.
- Ability to create advanced custom modules, filters, plugins, and dynamic inventories.
- Deep technical understanding of automation principles, CI/CD pipelines, YAML, Git, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience integrating Ansible with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Linux systems, and network devices.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
- Ability to work onsite or within required work conditions as defined by the client.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience designing enterprise automation frameworks and governance models.
- Knowledge of containerization, Kubernetes, and infrastructure orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with compliance automation, patching workflows, or configuration management at scale.
- Experience supporting large DevOps transformations or automation modernization projects.
