The Opportunity 

Are you passionate about using technology to transform lives through education? OES is seeking a talented  Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of student experiences. 

As a key member of our tech team, you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive change across the business to ensure OES is in a position to grow. 

You’ll be responsible for supporting the evolution of the technology infrastructure solution and processes that support the entire development and delivery of Online Education Services (OES) products and services 

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Global Infrastructure Implementation & Support: implement and support cloud-based infrastructure projects across the OES group, including enhancements and new partner system setups. 
  • Maintenance and optimisation: perform maintenance of cloud infrastructure, performance tuning and cost optimisation 
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Promote automation-first approaches, conduct reviews to streamline systems and processes, and develop prototypes or proof of concepts to support innovation. 
  • Security & Standards Compliance: Ensure all platforms and implementations meet company security standards and align with best industry practices. 
  • Technical Design & Documentation: Create and maintain technical artefacts such as current state assessments, detailed designs, implementation plans, and system documentation. 
  • Operational Readiness & Handover: Engineer solutions for seamless transition to BAU teams with robust handover processes and ongoing support structures. 
  • Collaboration & Escalation Management: Work closely with product managers, delivery leads, and senior stakeholders; act as an escalation point for service issues and provide technical guidance. 

 

 

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Extensive AWS Expertise: Over 7 years of hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, RDS, CloudFront, Route53, OU Management, and cloud network topology, with knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and FinOps. AWS certifications are highly desirable 
  • Broad Technical Proficiency: Skilled in web servers (Nginx, Apache), databases, CDN, cloud storage, Linux and Windows OS, CI tools like Jenkins, infrastructure automation (IaC), and cloud security and monitoring. 
  • Architectural & Industry Knowledge: Experience across public cloud, serverless, REST APIs, and web-based service design; supported by tertiary qualifications, industry certifications, and awareness of IT and education sector trends. 
  • Collaborative & Client-Focused: Prioritises client-side performance and works effectively across design, development, testing, and support functions with strong interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Independent & Strategic Contributor: Demonstrates advanced autonomy while knowing when to involve peers, stakeholders, or senior technical staff for collaboration, reviews, and approvals
