This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Simpplr. We are currently looking for a Senior SDET (Playwright + Javascript/Typescript) in India.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, you will play a key role in embedding quality across the entire software lifecycle. Working within a cross-functional product team, you will contribute from the earliest stages of design and requirement discussions through to release. Your mission will be to build scalable automation frameworks, drive test strategy, and ensure a reliable delivery pipeline. This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong coding skills, a quality-first mindset, and the ability to collaborate with developers, product managers, and infrastructure teams. Accountabilities

• Engineer quality across the development lifecycle, from requirement discussions to release, by defining test strategies and validating early.
• Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright, Javascript/Typescript, and BDD tools such as Cucumber.
• Set up pre-merge validations, production-like test environments, and automate end-to-end, component, and API testing.
• Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Jenkins), creating fail-fast mechanisms to detect issues early.
• Leverage data and observability tools to monitor quality metrics, improve coverage, and reduce defect escape rates.
• Influence design and architecture decisions with a quality-first perspective, embedding best practices across teams.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical discussions, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Explore modern approaches such as contract testing, test data versioning, and environment stability to continuously improve reliability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering or SDET roles with a strong focus on automation.
• Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript and Playwright, with hands-on experience in UI and API testing.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as Cucumber BDD, JUnit, or TestNG, and tools like Postman, RestAssured, or JMeter.
• Experience embedding automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Strong debugging skills, ability to build test strategies, and experience working across the full technology stack.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.

Preferred: experience in performance or security testing, exposure to microservices/cloud-native environments, or certifications such as ISTQB.
