The Ammortal Chamber brings together multiple scientifically backed technologies into one experience. It is a healing technology that can be utilized by wellness clinics and inside the home. Our clients include specialty spas and clinics, sports teams, and individuals who are biohackers or athletes.

We are a small team with a startup culture. After our first full year shipping a finished product on the market, we have shown strong growth. Our team is made up of engineers, health professionals, and startup entrepreneurs.

What is this role and why does it exist?

This role is essential to creating the next generation of the Ammortal Chamber, focusing on designing elegant, intuitive user experiences while incorporating the latest technologies. You will be responsible for driving innovation in frontend development, ensuring seamless integration between backend systems and the user interface, and creating a visually engaging, user-friendly application.

By leveraging modern tools and design principles, this role exists to make the technology behind the Ammortal Chamber accessible and enjoyable for diverse users—from biohackers to athletes. Your work will not just make the product functional but elevate it to feel like a premium, transformative experience.

Responsibilities

  1. Full-Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, modular software across frontend and backend systems, with an eye for responsive user interfaces that prioritize usability and accessibility.
  2. User Experience: Create cohesive, intuitive, and enjoyable user interfaces, interactions and experiences that enhance the Chamber's overall experience.
  3. Hardware Integration: Develop and troubleshoot interfaces for seamless hardware-software communication, including sensors and embedded systems.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineers, hardware developers, and designers to ensure seamless communication between systems and interfaces.
  5. Prototyping and Design Iteration: Rapidly prototype new ideas and refine designs based on user feedback and performance metrics.
  6. System Reliability: Ensure the Chamber operates smoothly with minimal bugs, delivering consistent and reliable performance.
  7. Feature Development: Build new functionality that enhances user engagement while ensuring technical scalability and architectural integrity.
  8. Testing and Validation: Implement robust testing strategies for usability, accessibility, and cross-platform performance, ensuring compatibility and reliability.
  9. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve software issues in real-time to ensure uninterrupted user sessions.
  10. Agile Development: Contribute to agile planning, meeting milestones and delivering high-quality features on time.
  11. Code Quality & Architecture: Write clean, well-documented code and maintain an organized, future-ready architecture that supports ongoing innovation and scalability.
  12. Innovation: Explore emerging technologies to drive product improvements and stay ahead in wellness tech.

Requirements

What technical knowledge do you need to perform in your role?

Required

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/HTML/CSS, Node.js, and Python
  • Proficiency in modern web frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular
  • Experience working seamlessly across frontend and backend systems
  • Experience with UI/UX principles and user-centered design
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex, modular applications
  • Exposure to hardware-software interfacing (sensors, embedded systems, physical computing, or IoT)
  • 1-3 years of experience in full-stack development, with a proven ability to build elegant and performant user interfaces
  • Exposure to scalable product development cycles and best practices (e.g. Git, GitLab Flow)
  • An eye for design and a passion for creating beautiful, functional software

Preferred

  • Familiarity with design and wire-framing tools like Figma
  • Familiarity with Linux systems (e.g., Debian) and microservice-based applications (e.g., Docker)
  • Exposure to real-time audio-visual systems and generative graphics
  • Knowledge of sensors, data processing, event-driven communication (Socket.IO), and scalable architectures
  • Understanding of progressive web apps (PWAs) and responsive design best practices
  • Mobile app development experience
  • Interest in generative AI and LLM's
  • Experience conducting user research to inform design decisions
  • Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD tools

Benefits

Pay, Location, and Hours

  • Pay Range: $95,000 - $140,000
    • This range is broad because we are considering a broad range of experience levels
    • As a generalization,
      • If you are in the 1.5-2.5 years of experience range, expect to be in the lower third
      • If you are in the 2.5-5 years of experience range, expect to be in the middle third
      • If you are in the >5 years of experience range, expect to be in the upper third
  • Healthcare, dental, vision (80%)
  • Location: Asheville, NC, with hybrid work flexibility.
  • You'll work in-office at least two days a week from our R&D studio and production facility in Mars Hill (20 min north of Asheville, NC). However, you may need to come to the office more as needed for additional in-person development and hardware integration.
  • Hours: Flexible, goal-oriented schedule, typically 9-5 Monday to Friday.
