The VMware Cloud Engineer is responsible for the effective design, deployment, configuration, documentation, and handoff of customer virtualization environments as a part of Infrastructure- and Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) projects. These environments include Hosted Private Clouds, Dedicated Private Clouds, and Virtual Private Clouds in support of customers’ production and business continuity and disaster recovery needs. This individual works with project managers and coordinators to understand the unique requirements of each customer. They then assist with a team of other Cloud Engineers to design and implement solutions for each of our customer's unique environments and business needs. 

 

Requirements

· Experience in a service organization, working directly with customers

· Experience operating and/or deploying VMware environments 

· Familiarity with technologies including, but not limited to: ESXi, vCenter, VMware Cloud Director, SAN, File, and Object storage environments (Nimble/Isilon/CEPH a plus).

· Experience with Veeam and/or Zerto

· Ability to solve problems in stressful situations 

· Ability to work on multiple projects and amongst shifting priorities

· Strong attention to detail 

· Professional verbal and written communication skills 

· Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced or non-technical users, through verbal communication as well as written documentation 

· Strong time management and prioritization skills 

· Experience with system administration of Linux and Windows servers 

· Basic understanding of computer networking 

· Ability to work with limited oversight 

· Meet with customers to understand their problems, requirements and needs  

· Design, document, build and test solutions for our customers

· Work with project managers and engineers to gain solution acceptance from the customer, ensuring the solution meets their needs 

· Participate in the deployment of the virtualization environments in support of the designed solutions 

· Provide documentation and technical specifications to other team members to enable and ensure ongoing support by our NOC team 

· Work with Infrastructure team and their subject matter experts to improve our service offerings
